Hay'ya Card: What Is It, Who Needs It, and How Do I Get One?

The first phase of ticket sales for the FIFA 2022 World Cup has come and gone and, if you applied via the ticketing portal, there is nothing to do but sit and wait until March 8th to see if your application was successful or not. Or is there? 

Now is probably a good time to gen up on what else you will need, besides tickets, if and when you join the 2022 tournament. Other than transport to and from Qatar, accommodation, and the likes, you will definitely need a Hay'ya Card - without one, you won't be able to enter the stadium's ticket or not.

What is a Hay’ya Card?

A Hay'ya Card is a SMART technology identification card that will contain all the necessary details that allow you to enjoy your fan experience during the tournament: 

• Linked to your match application ticket number, once you have successfully secured your seats, the Hay'ya Card will be used to gain access to tournament stadiums alongside your ticket. 
• The card will also give you access to free public transport during match days, regardless of whether you're in and around Doha or further afield (Qatar's furthest stadium, Al Bayt, is 50 km from the city centre). So, whether you are travelling to and from stadiums, your accommodation, or the many sights in between, by Metro, tram or bus, the Hay'ya Card will help you reach your destination easily. 
• The Hay'ya Card will even be useful before your adventures in Qatar begin - it will serve as your pre-approved entry visa into the country when presented with a valid passport. In fact, should you require a multiple-entry visa during the tournament, the Hay'ya Card will do the job.

Who needs a Hay’ya Card?

Everyone who intends to attend a 2022 World Cup match from November 21st to December 18th needs a Hay'ya Card, Qatari residents and visitors to Qatar alike.

How do I get a Hay’ya Card?

If you have applied for World Cup tickets and you’re successful, once your purchase has been confirmed, you can apply for your Hay’ya Card using your match application number. 

The Hay’ya Card application portal will be in operation from March 8th via the website of Qatar’s organising body for the tournament, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy - qatar2022.qa.
